Dr LACIK Igor WG1 Research interest Polymer chemistry, characterization of polymers, polymer modification, size exclusion chromatography, polymerization kinetics, hydrogels for biomedical and biotechnological applications, non-biofouling surfaces, cell immobilization for transplantation (diabetes), hydrogel characterization (diffusion, mechanical properties, swelling, state of water), monomer and crosslinker synthesis Size exclusion chromatography of polymers in aqueous and organic phase, static and dynamic light scattering pulsed laser, texture analyser, optical and fluorescence microscopes, sterile lab facilities, organic synthesis facilities, analytical techniques for polymers and low molecular weight compounds. Our initial interest in joining this COST action was to develop the non-biofouling surfaces, which is on the other side of the "biological adhesives" problems, but naturally it is closely related in view that the mechanism of bioadhesion needs to be understood. We can contribute to this COST action by our expertise in polymer chemistry and related fields in physical chemistry, organic chemistry, materials for biomedicine and biotechnology, etc. Also, we a tradition in developing various industrially used adhesives. We think that we can learn from this COST action as well as we hope to contribute to it from the point of view of synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials
